Light the tip of the incense, then blow out the flame to create a delicate curl of smoke. Place it on an incense holder. The fragrance of the incense is at its best once the stick has burnt and it lingers long after.

Avoid drafty areas such as open windows and doors, so that the ashes will not be scattered. Place the burner on a tray so that the ashes do not fall onto the floor or furniture. Keep out of reach of children or pets.
