Socrates (470 ( ?)-399 BC) is considered as the founder of moral philosophy, emphasizing the practice of virtue. By taking up the command of the temple at Delphi of “Know yourself”, he prompts man to find the answers to the questions he poses about existence and life within himself.

 This master of wisdom taught that we ought not to concern ourselves about living, but about living well.

He urged his fellow citizens to seek the True, the Beautiful, the Just and the Good, and to “take care of their soul”
